EMF & Radiation Protection Tips

I’ll start with saying that I am no expert of EMF’s or radiation in any way. I will say that I am always concerned about exposure to unnatural things and these definitely give rise to that concern. Because technology is still so new, I fear there are many side effects we just don’t know about. And I fear that our continued rise in the amount and exposure to all this tech will lead to issues and I want to protect myself as much as possible.

I am not going to try and explain the research and findings that has been done on exposure to electromagnetic fields and other radiation, but listen to this podcast episode to learn more! EMF Protection-How I Deal with Wifi & Cell Phones Going Crunch not Crazy

I want to give my personal tips for protecting yourself and your family! A lot of these are simple and are changes that can be made today.

  1. Turn your cell phone on airplane mode whenever you can but especially if you are carrying it on your body! In your pocket, in your hand on, even in your purse if your purse is held right next tp your body. You want to try and keep any product that’s on WiFi at least a foot away from your body to greatly reduce the exposure your body is getting. Even if your phone is only using data and not of WiFi, you’ll barely get any radiation if you switch to airplane mode. This is also a great way to be more productive! I’ve found that if i download my music or podcasts and turn my phone on airplane I am so much more productive because I’m not checking my phone every few minutes. I also do this when i go on walks and I definitely enjoy my walks more when I’m not looking at my phone.

  2. Turn off your WiFi at night. Yes we have our WiFi on all day and while we can’t see it with our eyes, its on us all the time. Its always trying to connect to all the devices in our house and we want a break while we sleep. My husband and I both noticed a change in our sleep when we started this. It was also so nice to have our phones and devices off so we only focused don each other! How nice is that?

  3. Stay away from your microwave. Sure, ideally I would say get rid of it. But the convenience is still too great for us. So we try to only use it minimally and we literally press start and run away! Again, at least a foot, but I usually just leave the room. Microwaves are super powerful and I don’t want tp take any unnecessary risks.

  4. Keep anything with WiFi or data off of your lap. And your kids! Make sure you work on your laptop at a desk, or have a few pillows between yourself and the device if nothing else. Make sure your kids do this too! We just don’t know how EMFs could harm children’s growth and hormones and keeping the device at least a foot away from their skin could help a lot.

  5. Buy protective products. The first 4 tips you can do today! This one you may be easily convinced of after listening to the podcast episode like we were. For protection from your devices check out DefenderShield products. They have phone cases and laptop covers to protect you almost completely from any exposure. We also bought a Belly Armor blanket. I wanted this for my pregnancy but I bet I’ll wear it after baby is here and I will probably use it on baby too. They have other clothing accessories I may spring for later too. And finally, the tool my husband really wanted was an EMF detector. We bought one to see if our microwave really was putting out radiation and it was crazy to see! We also checked different areas in our house to see the difference it made to be further away from our WiFi router. It’s hard to change up a room’s layout but if you come to find out you are always sitting in a hot spot, it may make you find a new area to hang out in, or to move your router.
