Movement Moves Emotion: How Fitness Can Improve Your Quality of Life
Movement Moves Emotion: How Fitness Can Improve Your Quality of Life
Most people understand that movement requires energy and that energy is created by burning calories. As these calories are burned we either replace them by consuming food or our bodies tap into our stored energy supplies to continue supporting movement. This action of tapping into stored energy is at the foundation of weight loss. And while weight loss is a priority for many people, and certainly something our trainers specialize in, we would like to focus on a few lesser-known benefits of consistent movement.
Movement does more than just burn calories! Our bodies react to movement by releasing certain hormones that result in positive emotions, increased energy, better sleep, and improved motivation. Sounds pretty great, huh? Even better, these positive emotions will keep you coming back for more until you’ve built healthy habits that have become second nature!
You know the feeling you have after a day out on the course compared to a day of rain where you are stuck inside. Or how great you feel after you go for a morning walk compared to skipping it. Unfortunately, it is proven that habits are difficult to form and easy to break. The good news is that you do not have to do it alone.
If you have been striving to make improvements in your energy levels, range of motion, or mobility but continually find yourself hitting out of the metaphorical sand trap, don’t lose hope! Our clients have expressed similar concerns with their previous wellness efforts and consistently report dramatic improvements in their quality of life after working with our certified personal trainers! We certainly do not want to undervalue the benefits of weight loss, strength, and flexibility (all of which are results our clients see), but the balance in both mind and body that comes with structured daily movement is often overlooked and for some can have the greatest impact on their life!
