Stress and Gratitude from your traveling personal trainer

The focus for this post is reigning in your stress and increasing your gratitude.
Stress
Remember when you were little and having a melt down, how calming it was to take one big, deep breath? Turns out that still works as a grown-up! Here are some breathing practices to try daily or in the moment when you are feeling overwhelmed.

Gratitude
Something I've always failed to consistently maintain is a diary. When I look back, I always wish I would have kept one up just for fun, to go back and reminisce on past experiences. I have mostly given up on the fantasy of jotting down a daily play-by-play every night, but what I do want to try is a gratitude journal! Every night writing down a few of the best parts of the day and taking note of the specific things I'm thankful for.

Stay present in the now. It only takes a few minutes whether you are at home, running errands or on a airplane to re-center. Or if your'e having trouble getting into the habit, add it on to another habit you already have made. For example, practice a daily mantra while brushing your teeth, or add in a mini meditation before or after a workout. You can definitely ask your in home trainer to make this part of your routine, before you know it you'll crave it just like you do with your in home workouts ;)
Focusing on these two topics can dramatically improve your mood and your day-to-day outlook on life.
* In home workout tip *
Set a timer for rest intervals, its easy to get distracted at home after a set of exercises. After a given circuit, set a timer so you start again on time and finish our workout faster and with a higher calorie burn!
