Kombucha! Or as we like to say, Kom-Bach-Ahhhhhh with a full on karate chop!

Kombucha! Or as we like to say, Kom-Bach-Ahhhhhh with a full on karate chop! If you buy kombucha I highly recommend to start brewing your own! You learn so much in the process and can save a boat load of money over time! All you need is tea, sugar, 1-3 large glass jars and of course your scoby! The magical fun-guy that ferments the other ingredients to create this magical fizzy probiotic, karate chopping drink! When we moved to Germany in June 2019 I left my scoby behind. My plan was to eat lots of sourkraut and get my probiotics from other foods as well! I still love me some kraut and eat it when I can but a few months into our German living, I was really missing my home brew! Amazingly, I posted on one of the military spouse Facebook pages I’m on, and voila, within 48 hours I had a batch of Kombucha brewing in our temporary home.  If you are interested in brewing I suggest reaching out to your community, maybe through church or your neighborhood or a team you belong to. Chances are someone will have a lead on someone who brews. If you can watch the brew process just once, you’ll be sold. Its so simple and SO worth it! You get a gallon of Kombucha for less than the price of most conventional bottles sold.  Once yo do start brewing on your own at home, the fun really begins! You get to gross out guests with the scoby of course. But beyond that, you and your family get to experiment with flavors and additions to your brewed kombucha, and brew time which affects taste and the magic bubbles!  I’m still a coffee and hot tea drinker, and I am somewhat sensitive to caffeine when it comes to sleep, so I don’t drink kombucha all day. But I usually drink it at home after my coffee in the morning. And then I’ll bring some on the road with me and drink it before and after a morning workout. I love the taste of unflavored kombucha, but I am starting to experiment more with adding spices and fruits to brewed kombucha. Blueberry ginger is my favorite so far! I would love to know what your favorite flavors are and how your kombucha brewing is going!
